As you may have already deduced, the title is a portmanteau based on the words 'Garbage' and 'Gems'. This blog is devoted to anthologizing treasures found in unlikely places. More specifically, I look through piles of garbage and take pictures of shiny things.

But seriously. While it is meant to be an entertaining read, the main purpose of the site is to help minimize waste by facilitating the reuse process. This is about more than just the environment. It is a small effort aimed at correcting a vast history of consumer habits which are entirely unsustainable, wildly incongruous with many parts of the world, and which contribute to widening an economic divide of embarrassing proportions.

You can think of this blog as an online catalogue to a free store. Updated on Monday nights around 11 and occasionally at other times also. Thanks for reading.
