Good evening!

I really couldn't find any gems out there tonight, but as I've mentioned previously, that's usually a good thing if it means quality items aren't being mistreated. So I've decided to mostly devote this week's Garbagems to raising awareness of furniture cruelty. The back wall in the above photo has been coloured blood red in support of the cause.

(Maclaren, east of Cartier)

Based on the drawers here, you might expect to find a filing cabinet lying around, but I had a good look and found nothing of the sort. Furthermore, some of the wooden pieces seemed like they may have once been part of an old TV. Evidently some sicko in the area gets off on isolating furniture parts from their families.

(O'Connor, north of Lisgar)

The long framed glass piece seemed to have some kind of floral design inside (click for a closer look). I'm not sure what you would use it for, but it certainly doesn't look like garbage to me.

There's also a pretty nice looking parking meter in front, but I don't know if the city would be cool with you taking it (even though it appears to be in a garbage pile). I wonder if that ever confuses the sanitation engineers.

This piece was almost mangled beyond recognition. It took me a few minutes to realize that it was once a computer desk (and that I had taken the photo backwards). What a tragedy.

(Lisgar, west of Metcalfe)

As you can see, this dresser has had its drawers maliciously torn from the sockets (a common, but rarely reported form of furniture torture). It looks like someone then tried to stuff it inside a sofa which has its face planted in the snow. How humiliating.

As a side note, the mattress against the wall might not look like anything special, but take a closer look:

Would you throw away a mattress that could make you look like this naked man? You'd have to be crazy to pass up the chance to develop the body of an adonis in your sleep!

(O'Connor, north of Somerset)

It looks like this desk got knocked around a bit before being left behind in the snow. Neglect can be the worst torture of all...
